Core Process Psychotherapy and Counselling - CardiffGwynfor Williams

My Experience

I am an accredited counsellor (BACP) and psychotherapist (UKCP) with over 12 years’ experience working with clients in a range of settings.

My core training is in Humanistic and Existential counselling, and I later deepened my practice through a Master’s degree in Core Process Psychotherapy at the Karuna Institute. This approach brings together Western psychological understanding with mindfulness-based practice, and continues to inform how I work today.

Alongside this, I have undertaken further training in areas such as trauma and nervous system regulation, which supports a grounded and responsive approach to working with difficult or overwhelming experiences.

Over time, my way of working has become less about applying techniques, and more about creating a space where meaningful contact can take place.

I am particularly interested in how our patterns of relating, to ourselves and to others, are shaped, and how these can be gently explored and understood within the therapeutic relationship.

This can open up the possibility for change, not through force, but through awareness, integration, and a deepening sense of connection with yourself.

Before becoming a therapist, I spent many years working in further and higher education. This experience continues to inform my work, particularly in how I support reflection, inquiry, and the process of making sense of experience.

My approach is ongoing and evolving.

I see both therapy and life as a process of continued learning. where we come to recognise our patterns, meet ourselves more fully, and gradually develop a greater sense of choice and agency in how we live.
